As a Junior Transportation Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting a variety of transportation projects that involve traffic management, construction staging design, site circulation analysis, and the preparation of road design packages. Moreover, you will be given the opportunity to participate in Idea Lab, and work on research & innovation pilot studies in partnerships with academia and industry partners.

Key Responsibilities:
Prepare conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs for transportation projects.
Participate in functional reviews of development projects to ensure site traffic circulation is compliant with relevant municipal parking and load design requirements.
Conduct swept path analysis using Vehicle Tracking or AutoTURN software.
Assist in the preparation of traffic management plans, traffic control plans, and road design drawings.
Provide support in design feasibility studies, preliminary design, detail design and contract documents for temporary and permanent road improvements.
Provide technical support in quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and design specifications.
Assist in the preparation of tender documents for construction projects including Issued for Review and Issued for Construction (IFC) contract packages.
Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Conduct site visits, as required.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering as recognized by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO), or Diploma/certificate in Civil Engineering from a Civil Engineering Technology Program
Any experience in the transportation engineering industry is considered an asset.
Working experience with AutoCAD and MicroStation.
Experience with Civil 3D or Open Roads will be considered an Asset.
Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Proven ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team, with strong time management skills and the capacity to effectively handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong attention to detail.
Strong verbal and communication skills including both technical writing and oral communication.
Highly motivated and willing to take on new challenges and learn new skills.
Developing organizational skills and understanding of task assignment and schedule.
Eligible to work towards obtaining professional engineering licensure (P.Eng) or CET in Ontario.
